Susceptibility of Alabama argillacea and Chrysodeixis includens (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) larvae to Beauveria bassiana associated with kaolin

Abstract The mortality of the Alabama argillacea and Chrysodeixis includens (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) larvae caused by kaolin inert powder entomopathogenic fungus Beauveria bassiana were determined under laboratory conditions. Using caterpillar submersion method, CG 138 B. isolate was more pathogenic to A. than 70, GC 82, ESALQ 634, 645. All five tested isolates similar C. includens. first-instar feeding on leaf-disc impregnated with (CG 138) also determined. Higher mortalities observed in treatments, regardless presence kaolin. However, activity + against higher each ingredient alone, indicating an additive action includes larvae. treated similar, that (GC separated. treatment is promising for simultaneous management these two defoliator pests, mainly includes. In addition, monophagous susceptible both polyphagous includens, suggesting nutritional ecology plays important role susceptibility species alternative insecticides.
